Long distances alone in a car for several people is extremely inefficient and unnecessarily increases the ecological footprint. This problem is avoided by using Internet platforms to coordinate carpooling opportunities (e.g. BlaBlaCar, BesserMitfahren etc.). It is possible to offer own routes as well as to ride with other drivers. In both cases the choice of a ride is the more sustainable and cheaper option.
