Energy

The world population consumes about 21 trillion kWH of electricity every year. Compared to other countries, China ranks first with 5.9 trillion, followed by the United States with 3.9 trillion.
The majority of electricity is consumed by industry. In Germany, for example, only about 25% of energy consumption is consumed by private households. Renewable energies represent only a very small share so far. In 2018, only 1 billion kWH of green energy was consumed. Energy consumption is split into the areas of electricity, heat and transport. The largest energy sources are crude oil, lignite and hard coal, natural gas and nuclear energy. According to the German government, this consumption is to be reduced to 82% by 2020 and increasingly replaced by green energy.

Mobility

In the mobility sector, a small share of less than 1% of renewable energy sources has been used so far. In addition to electricity, biofuels such as biodiesel, bioethanol or biomethane can also be used. As important as mobility is for socialisation and the economy, it can also be harmful to the environment. In 2015, 9.8 hectares of land were newly used every day for road or rail construction in Germany and more than 111 tons of microparticles were carried into our environment solely as a result of tyre wear on the roadways.
